    Default Buying a Desktop

Alright, here's the thing. My mum and her partner split and he took his fair share including the desktop computer. The computer was custom built by a friend of ours, and costed us £350 for 250gb tower, 17.5" screen, microsoft keyboard & mouse and a set of speakers. Cos I'll be buying the computer because only I'll be using it, do you think it would be better to:

Buy from the guy who custom builds computers

    Buy parts separately

Look for a good deal in retailing shops

    My price range is £300.

    Thanks

I'd imagine that buying parts separately and building your own would be cheaper, and would give you more freedom in what you use. Might be wrong though!

On smaller budgets I am not sure there is much difference in price, but ni will put a guess on it still being cheaper to build yourself,

"Facepalm" A laptop is a computer

For £300 you would get a pretty crappy laptop.

I quite liked the link that Jahova posted, but that's probably too expensive considering the Monitor isn't included.

I'm only going to be using the computer for coursework, The Sims 2, facebook and Habbo & Habbox. So I don't know what gb I'd need, but I want it to be quick.

This would run them, just about, but you could upgrade it, and get a monitor, and still be in budget easily, Possibly get Windows 7 too (You'll need an external Disk Drive too, Unless you have the .ISO for sims 2)
