http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...BQ-autumn.htmlBRITAIN is set for a heatwave which could see temperatures as high as 81° F (27° C).
The prediction for next week follows the coldest summer since 1993.
Forecaster Jonathan Powell, of Positive Weather Solutions, said: "Don't pack away the barbecue just yet — the burst of warmth will see out September and bring in October."
An area of high pressure is due to move in after Sunday and stay anchored over the country for the week.
It will see temperatures climb from 68°F (20°C) in the South on Monday — and they may hit 81°F (27°C) next weekend.
In the North it is forecast to hit 73°F (23°C). The average for September is 61°F (16°C).
And the Met Office said next weekend's first days of October were expected to be the hottest since 1985. That saw the month's hottest temperature yet recorded — the 85°F (29.4°C) at March, Cambs, on October 1.
