    Default Putting on weight +repz

Not sure if this was quite the right section.

Basically when i was like 14? I had an eating disorder, Went clinic and everything to sort it out, after spending about 8 months going there i stopped. Now since i came out i was roughly 15 and now im 21. For them 6 years after coming out i ate minimal things throughout the day, enough to live off and enough to not feel hungry all the time. About 4 months ago i started looking at myself properly. Now i went through what i ate on a daily basis and it came to around 600-800 calories a day. After realising i was eating so little ive gone up to about 2500-2800 calories a day. I still cannot put weight on, i don't seem to be getting any bigger and around my wrists are 5.5 inches.

Sounds stupid but i just really cant put weight on, i still weigh 7.5 stone and after 4 months of eating 2500-2800 calories a day i still cant get heavier or look bigger, does anyone have any ideas? +rep for all useful answers

Firstly well done for overcoming such a difficult problem and powering through - I am sure you realise how much of an achievement it is to have dealt with this, and I think it's great your now focussing on the future and how to improve.

I think maybe the approach of up'ing the amount of calories you are eating so dramatically perhaps is not the best, especially if you have been eaten so little for so long - this will be a tremendous shock for any human body to comprehend. Perhaps a better solution could be to do this gradually? For example upping to 1000-1200 calories for the next few weeks, then 1200-1400 and so on.

I think the most urgent thing you should do though is get an appointment with your GP and explain your looking for some advice and they will refer you to a dietician who can give you the most accurate and specialised advice relative to your exact solution. I really think you should do this as a matter of urgency as you ultimately don't want to damage your body after overcoming such a difficult situation, by pulmerising it with so many calories at once.

Yeah, I think you should gradually increase the amount of calories cause it's probably not good for your body to have only a little one day and then have a lot the next, it's a big change Also, you could have a high metabolism, I eat quite a lot and don't put on any weight either but you could go and see your GP and see what they have to suggest?

As anorexia is such a serious issue I would definitely go to see your doctor as eating that many calories isn't the least bit healthy.

I know that not everyone is super comfortable with going to the GP but honestly it'll be worth it as none of us have a wide enough knowledge of both anorexia and medicine xoxo
