    Default Please Change Spoiler Rules?

In this thread that is stickied in the tv and film section (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=513788, it says that spoilers are advised but not enforced.

Can they please be enforced officially? Some mods still seem to unofficially enforce it so what's the point of having a stickied thread that says otherwise. It's really annoying to be in a thread discussing a show and somebody who torrented the show early spoils it for everybody who hasn't seen it legitimately yet.

    Thanks.

I think you've got a point. As I remember recently remember reading a thread about Eastenders, and seeing the whole storyline which did kind of spoil it. When I'm moderating I just follow the guidelines, and if its a 'major spoil I'll put spoilers in myself. But it could be worth while looking into it.

For this, although I don't believe there's any sanctions for this. I think when it's giving out future spoilers or in a Habbo section where you're giving out quest answers, it is necessary to have these so it's not spoiled for other members of the forum.

Ugh. Don't do this. I hate spoilers and someone spoiled Harry Potter for me on this forum and I hate them, but getting warned for not using spoiler tags is the most stupid thing ever. I know this forum is a huge fan of love thy neighbour, but lets at least have some freedom. The forum is restricted enough as it is and what can technically be considered a spoiler is just too vast an area to cover.

I don't think anybody needs to get warned for not using a spoiler which I believe is what not 'enforced' means.
No reason that spoilers cannot be added though by mods.

I'm usually of the opinion that if you don't want something ruined, don't use or view anything related to it. I hate rules that hinder common sense By all means spoiler posts and threads that are based on future programmes, but for programmes that were aired the day before then don't bother spoiling and shovel the blame on the individual who lacks self-control.

If people want to ruin an experience, they will - enforcing a rule won't make any difference. It's like that rule where you can't kill someone in real life. It doesn't stop people doing it.

So you can't talk about or delve into for example tv episodes without having future shows ( that aren't even availible in europe yet in most of these cases by the way) ruined for you. Essentially that's what you're saying.

Really. That's your example? So your theory is that there would be just as many murders as there is now without laws. Laws and rules deter people from doing things that are wrong. Sure there are exceptions but if there were no laws people would do whatever the hell they want.

I can't believe you're really suggesting that all laws and rules are useless.

Woosh, my point goes over your head

"That aren't available in Europe" = it isn't available publically to everyone hence to talk about it will be spoiling it for everyone. If it's available for everyone and was recently aired spoliers are pointless and it's you're fault for ruining it for yourself. If it isn't publically available then it is spoiling it for people, therefore you get in trouble which some moderators will edit posts. It's sort of the basic definition of spoiling.

Anyway. So do you actually believe people (or trolls, idiots, call them what you will) who want to ruin a show on purpose will refrain from doing so if a rule is in place? You get people posting porn on here, on purpose, to annoy people yet a rule exists saying not to post it. If people want to annoy, they will do it whether there are rules or not, and you're suggesting a pointless rule change will stop this when it won't. Same for reality. If someone is so annoyed by someone to drag themselves to the point of getting a weapon and killing someone, they will. The current spoiler rule is fine, you do not want to become authoritarian. nvrspk4, when he created the rule, took a realist/common sense approach. I assume the members here are some ounce of decency, and judging from my experience, they do. It's only individuals who are out to annoy on purpose who are the problem, and they will do it rule or not.
