For those of you outside Australia, Holden is the equivalent of Vauxhall (UK), Opel (Europe) and Saturn (US & Canada).

Personally, I like them both, however I much prefer Fords. For instance, I'd much rather a Focus ST over an Astra VXR

Out of the two it has to be Ford - they're usually ahead in terms of technology and sometimes design. That said, the newer Vauxhalls are looking good. The Insignia is definitely a better looking car than the Vectra, and the Corsa was a good step up from the bubble shape cars both Ford and Vauxhall had going at the time.

^ I definitely agree with the statement about Vauxhalls of new. The Corsa D (56 reg - present) was a massive massive improvement over the old C, not only in terms of looks but performance, handling, reliability and even the materials the whole car is made out of too. My mum had an 05 plate Corsa C a few years ago and got rid of it after about 3 months because she hated it, and I wasn't keen on it either. However, I learnt to drive and did my test in a 59 plate Corsa D with the 1.3 cdti diesel and I rated it very highly.

Even the Vectra is a lovely car too, my dad's old "Design" model had DAB radio, cruise control, auto lights+wipers, alloys, electric this electric that, and got it when it was only 10 months old at the time for next to nothing. A lot of car for the money. Even really tidy VXRs with the 2.8t can be picked up for under £10k.

Fords, although I'm not really a fan of either. I only really like the Holden/Vauxhall Monaro & the Holden HSV, as they don't have the 'vauxhall feel' to them, probably as they were designed in Australia.

i'm the star in the reasonably priced car!

Had both and really prefer Ford, cheaper parts and easier to work on from my opinion.

I'm going to have to go with Ford. I love their Focus and Galaxy.
That's why we seize the moment, try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and hold it cause we consider these minutes golden.

Fords generally although I'd struggle to choose between a Monaro and a Mustang.
    One for the road.
