    Default Phone upgrade

Hi, my phone will be due to upgrade soon (still got a few months running, but they usually let you have an early upgrade on 24month deals)

At the minute I have an iPhone 4. It's been good overall, but lately it has been frustratingly slow, and like most of the iPhone 4's the home button has began to stick a bit so takes a couple of clicks before it will respond. This has kind of put me off an iPhone 4S, as basically it's just the same phone but a little bit faster and you can talk to it...

My girlfriend has just got a Sony Erricson Xperia and I kind of like that but don't know a lot about it. I also like the look of the HTC Sensation and have heard it is a very responsive phone!

I know someone will recommend a Samsung but to be honest, I haven't really been a fan of Samsung's. Haven't had one for a lot of years but my Mum has the Omnia 2 (just a fairly cheap phone) and it's possibly the worst phone I've ever had to use! But haven't tried any of their higher end phones. Would be reluctant to try one but all suggestions welcome!

Either a Galaxy Nexus or a Samsung Galaxy S2 (or S3 if you want to wait). You get what you pay for and Samsung really upped their game with their Android phones. I never used to like them, they were cheap and nasty in my eyes, but they make a couple of the best phones out now.

I can wait a couple of months because I'm in no hurry like I said my iPhone 4 is doing fine for the minute.
And again with Android, I had a HTC phone a few years back (HTC Hero I think it was) and wasn't a fan of the OS on that, but I guess they will have changed it a lot since then?

How are Samsungs in the long run? Like with my iPhone at the back-end of 2 years it's starting to crap out a little and can be extremely slow!

I personally wouldn't go for the HTC Sensation, as one of my friends had it and claims it wasn't a very good phone at all - I suppose it is a matter of opinion though, maybe you will like it ! I would say the iPhone 4S but as you want to stay away from them, I think the Galaxy Nexus could be a good choice. I haven't used one but have heard people saying that they're good .

I don't know, I've only had my Galaxy S2 since November, but I do know people who have had the original Galaxy S and been very happy.

Android has changed a tremendous amount since the days of the HTC Hero, don't forget, with your old HTC phone you had HTC's own UI over the top of it, which slows it down etc and the hardware is a lot better nowadays too.

Ah good, also yeah I really didn't like the menu thing (at the bottom of the screen) on HTC's, I thought that really sucked.

I see theres a phone coming out next month called the Samsung Galaxy S Advance... is that the S3, or will it be much different to the S3?

Been looking into these phones a bit over the past few days... need some opinions.

Would I be best looking at getting a Galaxy Nexus over the next few months or waiting a while for the S3? When is the S3 looking to come out? Really like the look of the Galaxy Nexus though, s a bit of a dilemma!

I'm an iPhone user myself but purely just because I prefer them. I have the 4S and the speed is really good the A5 chip seems to be doing the job dead well. The galaxy nexus does look really good you could wait for the S3 cause I'm sure that will be FAB, I had the original Galaxy S and I thought it was fab I lost mine though if not I would still have it now it did everything I wanted and more!

I'd say the galaxy s 2 and the galaxy nexus are simalar, they both have the same processor speed dual core 1.2GHz which is really good and they're both android. Personally I'd probably go with the S2 just because I like the design better but that's totally just my personal preference. You always could wait for the S3 but just depends how patient you are, I'm not sure when the release date is or even if there has been a confirmed release date yet.

If I was so I'd compare all the Galaxy Nexus and S2 specs and then make a decision based on that or you could always wait for the S3 I heard it was gonna sport a quad core processor, it'll be a beast!

Thanks for that. I do prefer to Galaxy Nexus design to the one used for the S series. I like the idea of having no physical buttons, and the huge screen on it too!
I'd say I would easily pick the Nexus over the S2, but the hard decision lies in getting a Galaxy Nexus or waiting for the S3

Will there be much difference in the phones? Obviously the processor like you've stated will be faster in the S3, but even then, in a phone would the difference be that noticeable?

It will probably only be noticeable for things like gaming and that, so it really depends what you're gonna do on it. The nexus screen does look really nice, I wish my iPhone had a bigger screen because compared to loads of android's it is TINY, I was even thinking about swapping it for a Samsung S2 but seeing as I'm still paying for it on my credit card... Wouldn't be much point lmao!

If you like the Nexus I'd go for that cause it could be ages before the S3 gets released and new phones come out every day so you're always gonna be that one step behind anyway no matter what =]
