Default BBC3 The Fades won't be returning!

    BBC Three’s The Fades cancelled

    Louisa Mellor
It’s official: BBC Three’s terrific series The Fades has not been renewed for a second season

    Published on Apr 5, 2012

We feared as much when series five of Being Human was commissioned, and now it’s been confirmed: The Fades has not been renewed for a second series. It’s not for want of trying. Fans mobilised their efforts last October into that most British of all things, a petition, but to no avail.
After announcements of budget cuts to BBC Three’s drama output, it didn’t look as though there’d be enough money for both British genre shows to continue on the channel, and now it seems the newcomer has been dropped in favour of the established series.
The Fades actor Johnny Harris announced the news yesterday whilst on the publicity circuit for Snow White and the Huntsman, so this one’s come straight from the horse’s (or should we say angel’s) mouth. Not to worry though, there’s always plenty of Don’t Tell the Bride and Snog, Marry or Avoid to be going on with…
I'm actually gutted that they wouldnt at least give this show a second shot, such a shame.

I'm not going to lie and say I was an avid watcher of it, but it frustrates me how the lesbian program, Don't Tell the Bride, Young, Dumb and living off Mum etc are still being aired. Some of the best shows have been cancelled to be honest and I wish they would at least cut some of the crap.

I watched it from the second the idents came on I knew it'd be worth my attention, as soon as I started watching I fell in love with the characters, I was gutted it was so short though and did have a problem with how long character introduction took, but we'd be saved from all that by a 2nd series.

Apparently Lip service was chosen over it, I genuinely have no idea wtf Lip service is.

I'd love to know which brainiac cancels a show that made it to america in 6 episodes...

Lip Service is a show with lesbians, I don't think it takes a genius to work out why that wasn't cancelled.

I'll have to watch it and judge if BBC made the worst decision ever

Edit: I google it and this is the top result.

Sex, lies and true love amongst a group of twenty-something lesbians in Glasgow.
    Sounds so bad

Watched trailer, if its set in glasgow why do they all have southern accents, -facepalm. It looks like skins but this time everyone is a girl, and a lesbian.

Because the BBC want to be culturally diverse in setting but still use English people as characters. Few programmes are actually in England despite 90% of what the BBC makes starring English characters. Infact the only one I can sort of think of is Torchwood where there were actually Welsh people starring in the show made by BBC Wales.

It irritates me, why dont they just say its set where their accents are from, like it makes any difference that it's in glasgow, now we know theres just a higher percentage of their being a storyline where they get stabbed.

i watched the fades and over time, did get into it, but it was a very niche thing and it didn't get great online reception. it was an okay series, but it wasn't award winning or nothing.

lip service, i personally didn't like, but the reception was much better, had higher viewing rates etcetc. it's a very very very good show even if yr not interested in it. stupid to say it's just being brought back because it's lesbian...........

the fades never kicked off in the way they hoped it would (being human style) it never really peaked.

Being Human when taken to america (series 4 I believe was when it finally went over there) was promoted more, the fades (6 episodes in) was sent over there and not one american new it was on because the BBC ******ly sent it there with no advertising back up.

I enjoy Being Human & The Fades, I think they're on par with talent.

P.s Here are the viewing figures for the Fades & Lip Service, the Fades succeeded it.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fad...ries)#Episodes

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lip_Ser...ries)#Episodes

    Lip Service: 580,000
    The Fades: 867,000

Some how I think the BBC forgot to look at these, and the viewing figures for the Fades didn't drop.

Either the guy is ******ed, loves lesbians or maybe the stability in the numbers of Lip Service is what made the choice (which is still ******ed in my opinion).
