    Habbo Activists Stage Quiet Riot

Habbo Hotel (USA) -- In a monumental outpouring of solidarity Tuesday, Habbos gathered en masse for an impromptu protest throughout the Hotel Promenade. They arrived in scores and remained for over an hour, packed so tightly into corners that some individuals could barely move, let alone make their way back to the Hotel View.

Impassioned shouts and plaintive w00ts were hurled high into the air, as Habbos expressed signs of extreme apprehension and overwhelming appreciation in response to the announcement that DJ Decks, Disco Signs, and Gold Records would all appear for a brief time in the Catalogue.

"Hey, why do some people have DJ Turntables?" inquired adamskiblink182 over the commotion. "I dont think it's fair."

Then the voice of -!,x-Mandi-!,x- rose above the crowd: "Habbos are angry because some of the Habbos are losing their furni. It seems that the Habbos with the nicest rooms a target to hackers and scammers. HC's may also be a target. But the best thing to stop people from going into your Habbo account is to NOT give any of your personal information or you password to anyone -- not even your friends or family -- because you never know. They might take all of your furni."

RBSPYDER quickly offered his counterpoint. "Were the DJ Decks a good idea to make public? Most would say yes. I disagree. Before the Deck was released, it was considered a super-rare and now that it has been released, it's drastically dropped in value."

Cernnunos, too, called for calm and level-headedness. "Over the past few days, I have realized that people have been putting overestimated prices on certain rares, like the DJ Turntable, the Golden Record, the DISCO! Sign. People were asking around 20 HC's for one little item! So I asked them why they where pricing it so high, and they responded Hey, a Habbos gotta make a livin'. I realized that there is no sure price on a rare--"

"One of the unique features that makes Habbo so special," interrupted Masochistic, "is the furni, more specifically the rares. But for this to work out, rares must STAY rare. Yes, I'm talking about DJ Decks. What's next? The legendary Dragon Egg? The ever-so sought-after Typo? Will the plummeting never end?"

A Habbo by the name of antwan17 had this to say: "Why is everyone so mad? Big woop, the DJ Turntables are in the Catalogue for one hour. Like it's in there forever and everone is going to have one. I think its good the Turntables are in the catalouge instead of having them sell for 100 HC sofas, and I think its good that now more Habbos can enjoy the pleasure of the DJ Turntables."

One Hotel staff member, Quimby [name not changed to protect his identity] admits to being initially confused and befuddled by the sudden commotion.

"The moment I strolled into the Promenade, I thought for sure it was the line to Deuce Bigalow 2: European Gigolo. But it wasn't really a line, so I got annoyed. Why can't people just get organized? I can't even see the ticket booth! I need my popcorn in advance so I have something to snack on during previews. Secretly I hoped all these people were there to see Broken Flowers starring Bill Murray so I'd get the whole theater to myself -- but in no time I heard Habbos screaming about DJ Decks and the Habbo economy. And then suddenly everyone was looking at me, and the word bubbles were going way too fast and I had no choice but to run away. Maybe I'll see it on video."

After the melee had dispersed, Hotel Manager Blunique stepped forward to talk about how the more things change, the more they stay the same.

"The action of releasing the DJ Turntable was met with great controversy, and the public outcries both for and against were heard all over. For those who paid a lot of money to trade it, it must've felt like a total rip-off. You thought they'd never be sold. They were the most coveted item on Habbo, and then all of sudden they're put up on the block at a fraction of the price. To all the Habbos who felt shock and frustration: I understand completely."

"What happened is simply that the company policy on the DJ Turntable changed. The DJ Turntable is now considered to be a Super Rare - which means that it will be used sparingly for the promotions and activities around very, very special musical events, like the Gorillaz visit."

"I know we have a very vibrant trading community. The Habbo Market ebbs and flows constantly, and I find it fascinating. But as you can see, that does not necessarily dictate the future, which I'm sure we all agree, is infinitely unknowable."

"I want to give you fair warning: at any moment - even if it is once in a blue moon - some of the rare furni that you do trade a lot for will be sold at its regular price. Consider this the Trader's Beware notification. We will make the Petals available again, we will make the Aloe available again, we will make the DJ Turntable available again. It's part of Habbo. It helps to keeps the blood pumping through our veins and the pixels dancing in front of our eyes."

"I heard from and spoke with many of you. I was at the 'quiet riot' in the Promenade. For those of you who were there, thanks for being passionate, persistent and so frank with me about it. I really learned a lot. I like to know what you're thinking, even when it's harsh. How are we gonna make Habbo a better place if we aren't open to what you say? To me, freedom of thought, and constant change, is what Habbo is all about."

I'm Silver Hobba and never had so much hate for a member of staff. I'm upset more than anything because I spent so much money.
