Dear Habbos,
Recently my Twitter account "@FieryColdHabbo" was compromised by a hacker. This individual changed the account information which prevented me from accessing my account. An unfortunate consequence of this was that several personal messages (dm's) were made public and with that, taken extremely out of context.
I want to address this concern of favoristism that seems to be a popular topic amongst players. While many people seem to think that my reputation or wealth on this game grants me any favors by staff, that is absolutely NOT true.
The primary reason why this issue of favoritism is a hot topic is due a message sent to me by CEO Paul Lafontaine regarding a situation that had arisen within the hotel several weeks ago. Here is his message:
It was a bogus 2 hour ban. They found the log and nothing was there. The moderator responsible has been reinstructed. Apologies for that. We can make excuses around edges (hack, mistake, etc.), but our system needs to improve on understanding context, and reputation of a Habbo. Our mod system needs to understand culture of Habbo, not be a click farm. Refresh on your break and come back and work with me on this. Thnx.
The head of product went in and unbanned you. thnx
The two-hour ban referenced in THIS private message is in regards to casino owners being banned for promoting gambling. At the time, this very issue was extremely controversial within the habbo community. I mean you guys saw it. People were jumping from room to room rioting. Several players, including myself went to twitter to express our concern. A signficant aspect of the Habbo Community was at risk.
Paul took notice of our tweets and the individuals who were effected by this. He sent several reassuring tweets that he would be looking into the situation. Seeing as I was one of those casino owners who had a twitter account, Paul reached out to me to let me know that things are being worked on and that everything would be okay. He explained it was a simple mistake made by a new moderator who applied local jurisdiction laws in Singapore to all habbos, regardless of their location. (Gambling in Singapore is illegal). Bare in mind that prior to this incident, Paul had absolutely no idea who I was or that I even existed.
That's that.
The only reason why I have taken the time to write this was to bring attention to the fact that number one, my twitter was compromised and two, that things have been heavily misunderstood.
Thanks for your time.
