Default Footballer sent down for rape

Ched Evans of Sheffield United & Wales has been sentenced to 5 years in jail after a court finds him guilty of rape.

I for one, even being a sheff utd fan, am glad in a way that he's been sent down as i dont want a rapist in our team!

Whats that saying " If you cant do the time - then dont do the crime"

He certainly deserves the sentence given to him.

What a short sentence... I watch police show things, and someone got sentenced to 11 years for carrying drugs. Rape is worse then drugs.

Imo, he should have longer. The way I see it, he has a shorter sentence because he's famous maybe?

It's hard to understand why anyone would be sick enough to do it but especially a good looking footballer who would have girls all over him anyway. He'll get out after half that but 5 years should mean 5 years.

He will only serve 2 and a half years if good behaviour & the sentence was only short as the woman was not injured - according to what i've read.

What a waste of a good player, but he shouldn't have done it!

the woman was not injured? she'd just been raped. "sorry youve just been raped but because he didn't break your leg in the process, he gets a shorter sentence." The emotional scars aren't visible, he should've got more.

Oh wow was just reading this and then they said his name.

I only looked up mainly as they mentioned a town next to my bf anyway, I agree with others that 5 years is a bit too short but at least it's something!

Exactly. This countries sentence system thing is just messed up. It should really be changed...

Lucky to get a conviction at all tbh, the vast majority of rapes go unreported, very few make it to court and very few succeed in court. The statistics relating to convictions when it comes to rape are absolutely sickening. I agree it should be over 5 years though.

Considering they're supposed to have undeniable proof in rape cases (as opposed to the claimant simply regretting their decision the next morning) the sentence should be FAR longer. Anyone who can be be proved beyond all reasonable doubt to have committed such an act of atrocity ought to have as close to a life sentence as is legally possible to give
