Should have had a post about this yesterday but..

Alan Turing is the father of modern computing and the principles he set out back in the 40s(?) are still the basis of computers of today. Turing also helped decrypt and encrypt messages in World War 2 and revolutionised several aspects of cryptography that are still in effect today.

In his honour Google had a special doodle based on his hypothetical turing machine.

There is currently an epetition to put Turing on the next £10 note (Sadly Darwin cannot stay) here:

The likely hood of the Royal Mint accepting this is fairly high as he is already under consideration so I implore you to sign it.
