    Default Dog Illness

    hey
Idk if this is the correct place to put it so correct me if I'm wrong.

So - My dog is a 9 and a half yr old dalmation/collie who has recently had cancer surgery.
Within the last 4days he has sicked up white foamy stuff around 4times a day and had both diarrhea and constipation. (eg not going to the bathroom for a day or two then crapping like crazy)
The sick thing has got worse. within the 3hours of today he has been sick over 7 times. My mum thinks he's just eaten something bad.. but considering im in charge of feeding him I know this is impossible - theres no way of him recieving food unless I give him it.
    He's also always gipping.
It probably seems pathetic, but I'm just realllly concerned about him and don't know what to do. He's seemed more distant and less energetic recently too, which is making me think his old age is catching up to him..
So yeahh.. do you think its worth taking him to the vets or something? I read somewhere you should starve the dog for 24hours to prevent sickness, but I kind of don't want to starve him because it's harsh. xP

What do you think I should do? I'm really concerned about him.

It isn't pathetic at all to be concerned! I'm hardly an expert in any way at all but if I were you I would be straight down the vets. Especially if he has had surgery recently, I would be worried if he was regularly vomiting and having diarrhoea. Especially this "white foamy stuff" you mentioned... Going to the vet is the best thing to do imo, otherwise you will just keep on worrying without coming to any conclusions. Going to see the vet is the best way to get the answer.

I was basically going to say something along the lines of what @Judas; said
I too think that you should take him to the vets just to be on the safe side because if it was something really bad then I'm sure that if anything happened, you would feel bad that you hadn't taken him It is not at all pathetic, you're just concerned which I would be too! I don't like the idea of starving a dog so yeah I really think it would be best if you take him to the vets. I hope he gets better soon

If it was normal vomit then the usual thing to do is change his diet to something basic like cold rice and chicken (pre-cooked) to see if that changes anything. But as he's throwing up foamy vomit it's definitely worth going to the vet for advice. 9 isn't that old for a collie/dalmation (is he a cross-breed?).

Thanks for all the advice guys. We took him to the vet earlier today - they said it was an ear infection and was making him ill. They gave us some tablets to put him on. Hopefully should clear up in a week or so.
Never expected there was something wrong with his ear
@GommeInc; yeah his dads a dalmation and his mums a collie.
