    Default [DEBATE] Music Swearing

I was thinking about this today while talking to my friend...

Who should be blame the Parents or the singers?

Well, In a lot of songs they swear and most of the time it even says Explicit Content but kids at like 8 to 10 listening to it, Hearing the swearing and decide to start to swear, The parents then hear them and tell them off or what ever and stop them from listening to that Singer.

Who should you blame the Parent for not being strict enough to stop their child from listening to it, Or the Singer for swearing?

In my views I blame the parents

there is nothing wrong with swearing unless using it in inappropriate situations or using it to insult someone in a place where they shouldn't. parents can't stop children listening to music, they'll listen to it at school or someone else's house and if they don't learn from music they'll learn from other people.

I'm not a fan of music that excessively swears - mainly today's modern music, Nicki Minaj... etc, and it'd be quite hard for parents to control their children's music and music taste. Swearing in a song isn't always a bad thing, but swearing for the sake of it is.

The parents. Kids shouldn't listen to music that contains swearing, although it's frequent in todays society, in more than just music. Saying that, i listened to music that had swearing in it when i was younger and it didn't make me go out and swear. All kids should know right and wrong.. if they don't, that is lack of discipline.

That's true, I suppose you just got to learn from their own mistakes, I know parents can't stop them 24/7 as their out with their friends or at school but, Today I here kids that look at least 9 looking at me saying things they probably don't even know what it means!

there's nothing wrong with swearing and if younger children are found listening to an explicit song you can't blame anyone but the parents. why would you blame the person who wrote the song? they haven't done anything wrong. they're just making money.

I know if the parents don't agree with the Song writer or what ever, They shouldn't blame them, They should blame nothing but them self for not cutting back onto what their child is limited to see and hear.

You shouldn't try and shelter kids from music like that though i mean understandably if a child is ages under 12 then its completely down to the parents but when you start to develop your own music taste, i see no reason to stop someone listening to a song, which contains swearing unless its just excessively stupid or discriminating against a group of people.

Cleverly, the music industry has been able to defend themselves against any problems with "clean" versions of songs. But in all honesty, who buys the 'clean' versions of songs? People want the original versions of songs and preventing children from explicit content will surely only encourage them more to try and listen to it?

I personally have no problem with swearing in songs, but like Kardan says, nowadays people seem to purposely curse in songs for, what seems to be, popularity and be against parental consent/ rebellious.

    superhappy.

Overall, I believe swearing in music is okay when its actually to do with something, however I do not agree with music that swears repetitively with no meaning, eg: Sak Noel's song where is goes 'Le Gente Esta Muy Loca, what the ****' There is no real need for the swearing here, but its added in anyway.. this is what i dont understand
