    Default Cat got a poorly leg :(

    Just got home from work to find that one of my cats is badly limping and his leg seems to be stuck in a funny position. He seems fine otherwise, he doesnt seem that fussed or isnt meowing or anything, but there is obviously something wrong with his leg and I'm frightened it might be broken or something.

    Would it be best to let him rest it for a while and see if things improve, or do you think I should get him to the vets straight away? Never had anything like this happen before and I'm so worried and frightened for him I don't know if he's fell down on it or something, just hope he is not in pain Been such a rubbish day today

    probably best not to stress him so much by taking him, why not call the vet to you if you can?

    I would expect some sort of noise coming from the cat if they were in pain. I say maybe leave it for a couple of hours or even a day and if theres no progress of it getting better than do take him to the vet. You could always do what Dave has said and ring them up, I'm sure they would be able to advise you better. Hope it isn't serious!

    Yeah I think I better leave it and see if he starts walking on it again in the morning, he seems happy enough. Good idea about calling the vet out, I'm not too sure where the nearest vets is, and you're right he would probably get scared and stuff since he is a house cat and gets nervous around other people/other animals I just don't like the way he is holding his leg up when he walks its not right at all

    Has he been in the house the whole time? It may not be broken could another animal have bit him or something (not sure if this would be dealt with by holding it up). I'd ring the vet or look it up online - find your nearest vet in the phone book!

    Does it have anything in its paw or is it noticeably something to do with the actual leg

    If your thinking of calling a vet for advice, theres this line that's like a Animal version of NHS direct. You can find more details here.

    Or if not, you can find information on how to find your local vet here.

    Hope this helped and hope Mr. Kitty gets better soon! . @Martin;

    P.s. beware that there is a reasonably large charge for the Vetfone service. You can either pay a fixed £9.50 for a call of any length or £1.53 per min.

    a similar thing happened to my cat about a year ago, she kept hiding her leg. I waited till my dad got home (like 4 hours later) while she was sleeping. When she got out of her basket she only had a only a slight limp which vanished when i got her food out :rolleyes: I hope your cat is okay though!!

    I'd check if you cat has something stuck in it's paw.
    If it doesn't improve within 1day max, you should definitely get it checked out. Best being safe

    Hope everything works out fine. :3

    My cat had a sore leg not too long ago, we waited a few days to see if it would get better with rest etc and it did! Probably best thing to do is wait then visit the vets
