    Default video's becoming too explicit?

don't have a problem really, just wondered on people's views.

I know people thought lady gaga got out of hand a little - but it's nothing now.

tyga - make is nasty was abit full on. Well more than I was expecting.
even though that's getting alittle old.

GaGa's weren't really that bad, but Rihanna and Nicki Minaj... Urgh... I agree, videos are becoming too explicit, and I don't really see why the should need to be like that...

thing is, things are changing and our norms and values have changed over time. 20 years ago it would of been 'oh my god........' now it's generally just the norm. i guess you could say we expect it oh and i find this is only the case for certain genres of music

It is only the case for certain genres of music, and it just happens to be that this genre of music is this decades style of music which makes it the norm for now, but that doesn't make it acceptable. I think it cheapens the act.

well i agree it's not a good message for children but imo it's the 21st century if they're not seeing it on a music video, guarantee they'd see something somewhere else. not that i am condoning this or anything but yeh

How is Lady Gaga getting out of hand? For her last album she specifically made a point of NOT being conventionally sexy. At worst she just wore a bikini which you would see women wear at the beach. Artists like Rihanna and Nicki Minaj, as mentioned already by @Kardan seem to go out of their way to look like absolute *****s which is where a line should probably be drawn, for TV anyway. If they wanna release alternative videos online with 18+ warnings or whatever then go ahead ********** in the video for all I care.

Thing is, it isn't like explicit music videos is a new concept... Girls have been bouncing around in rap videos with their **** out since rap hit the mainstream. Even in old hard rock videos from the 80s. The issue is with how little respect some female pop artists (like Rihanna and Nicki) seem to have for themselves, especially as role models to younger girls, fanning their vaginas in videos.

Usually I'd say it's a healthy kinda thing letting kids be aware and in the know about sex and their bodies etc but it isn't at all, it evokes a "if I get my **** out the lads will love me as much as they love Rihanna" mentality. Or, a "I'm not as skinny as Rihanna so I'm going to throw up so I can look like her" mentality.

Like said above, it's mainly in certain genres of music.

The music I listen to contains nothing like the 'mainstream' stuff. The majority of stuff seen in music videos aren't half as bad as what you can find somewhere else, but either way, it's still unacceptable.
I have the feeling that due to this problem beginning a long time ago and gradually getting worse, it won't stop here. It'll continue to get worse till someone stands up and says 'this is too far'.

actually think alot of it's to do with the fact that sex sells. Agree with everything above, but if the song isn't that good, but has a really raunchy/ social unacceptable slant it seems to be favoured.

    superhappy.

I agree with whats being said here. Maybe the seem to think that if they do an..ahh..how do I put it...'sex appealing'? video..that maybe people what concentrate so much on the song and more on the video itself..which is kinda ridiculous tbh. Music is music--and whatever kind of video the artist has it shouldnt change the fact that the song has to be good too...not just the video. >.>

I have to agree that the videos are becoming very explicit and shown during daytime hours so children can see. The woman in it and scenes are atrocious
