i'm so confused, i don't get it?

is it him putting them into hypothetical situations in the classroom and the movie is just showing us 'what would be happening'
so they're discussing it but we see it actually happening in the movie?

I found on Tumblr (but not from anyone associated with the film) that they think:

"I think (and I’m not officially associated with the movie so this is just what I’ve gathered from everything I’ve seen/read) that it’s just a game/classroom assignment but the movie has taken to showing what they’re imagining in the classroom as real life situations, to make it more dramatic. So yes, long answer short: I think it takes place in the classroom."

I'm not too sure about it.

i'm guessing so because his use of the word envision and then saying something about applying something to the next/future situation
