He is renowned as being one of Britain's larger politicians.

So when Eric Pickles decided to make fun of his Cabinet colleague George Osborne by tweeting a picture of himself eating a salad, it was too much for many Twitter users to take.

Photo-shopped images emerged on the social networking site today, with a large KFC meal and a stuffed pig's head added to the Communities Secretary's desk.

Even his one-time adversary John Prescott joined in the fun by re-tweeting one of the pictures, adding 'LOL!'.

Joke: The new Twitter pictures emerged after Eric Pickles took a swipe at George Osborne by posting this picture of him 'putting final touches to the LGA speech - featuring a salad and carrots instead of a burger

Mr Pickles' picture was a public revenge on Mr Osborne after the chancellor made jibes about his weight.

The portly Communities Secretary was dubbed a 'model of lean government' by his Tory colleague yesterday for agreeing big cuts to his budget .

Mr Osborne - who has been dogged by controversy over his own post - tweeted back: 'Nice one, Eric.'

Seems a bit weird. I don't know why politicians seem to be trying to connect to the electorate like this - it just seems like it's begging for people to mock them more :/
