    Default Celebrity News (Sub)Forum

    Hey there!

I have been thinking about this for a while and I spoke to Chris about it today and he said we should see what people think so y'know..tell me what you think. My suggestion was to add a "Celebrity News" sub-forum to the Current Affairs forum in the General section. I think this would be a good idea for the following reasons:

If you look at the first page in Current Affairs, you will see four threads about celebrities (two for Tom Daley, one for Ian Watkins and one for Paul Walker) as of now, those four threads are the most popular threads in Current Affairs so we know the the Celebrity News sparks discussion.

Whenever there's celebrity news posted in Current Affairs, it's often met with replies such as "This isn't even news" and sometimes even gets moved to Spam. So having a place for it mgiht fix that problem and eliminate the pessimistic replies.

While writing this, I realise people may post saying that there's no need for it because there's not that much celebrity news posted. While this is true, I think if there is a place espeically for it, people will be more inclined to post it as their thread won't get shot down by people saying it's not news. If it's gets posted in, I believe it'd be a very busy part of the forum with a lot of discussion.

Anyway, I know how Habbox loves polls and Matt told me not to post one so for that reason, feel free to post in the poll above! Personally I think one should be added but who am I to speak for everyone?

    Thoughts?

yeah lets have one, i reckon it'd increase the amount of celebrity threads if there was a sub-forum

and maybe it will keep the politic nerds happy because the 'rubbish' news or whatever isn't in the way of their crap

Don't think it is needed. Doesn't seem popular enough as it is now.

Seems to me a more appropriate action to take would be against the 'this isnt news' brigade, highlight their posts, move them to spam then warn them. I don't really think a celebrity gossip forum is needed. As graham said, there was one and it wasn't used. That and the main forum would just be filled with threads about politics and it's good to have more of a choice.

People saying Tom Daley's bf isn't news has probably generated more discussion than it's stopped as the posts I saw weren't really aimed at the OP but the newspapers and they were merely raising interesting questions about the invasiveness of the media.

When people wanted a food and drink subforum for this same reason, they were told no because people can already talk about food and drink within the current forums and only if there was constantly more threads to the point where it could actively fill a subforum, a subforum would be added. In my opinion, I think the same applies here really - it doesn't seem to be too much of an issue at the moment .

Tbh I don't think that's a good idea.. is that not essentially warning people for posting in the wrong forum, which in many cases will be a genuine mistake by the OP? And could that not discourage users from posting their own threads ? Misunderstood that at first! Ok, I agree with your point and I was going to say the same thing . I think that people posting 'How is this news?' or similar is basically pointless posting and can be dealt with under the current rules so if you see someone doing that then I recommend you report their post(s).

    BREAK THE BOUNDRIES!

i don't think 'it's fine how it is' is a good enough excuse to stop this idea sorry x

I suggested this a while back and was pretty much slammed for it.

Obviously, there should be a forum for this kind of news. But hey.

I'm not so sure about it, but there isn't any harm in trying it if thats what a majority wants. We can just as easily remove a subforum if it doesn't work.
