Does that mean all the judicial systems in the UK have now lifted it? England and Wales did it many years ago. It makes sense - if two people who deeply love each other and want to adopt a fragile, unloved young person then it's all good. It speaks volumes compared to some of the people who abandoned them in the first place (though many have had to etc). The bullying argument in school doesn't hold much ground, seeing as children are bullied for plethora of reasons.

If you ask me, a child ought to have a mother and father.

Man + woman = family. I don't want to see it like that but that's how I do.

Better to have two father figures than nobody at all. At the end of the day, a family is what you make of it but you can't deny it's better than having kids stuck in care.

Agreed 100%. It's better to give them a life, and if it's with 2 people who really want a child then all the better.

Well that's what is always said but you know, I think there are a lot of couples out there who would love to adopt but who are barred from adopting for things like smoking and lots more red tape - it was only until recently that couples were barred from adopting because of skin colour differences.

Either way, i'd get the government out of adoption altogether and instead delegate the responsibilities to charities and Churches instead. Just from a personal point of view, a family = a man + a woman.

so would u pick an uncaring mother and father over a caring gay couple. or over a caring single parent? sometimes families are better off with single parents. im sure it does more harm to have straight parents with a volatile relationship than to have a caring single parent or 2 caring parents of the same sex. just way you're brought up i spose, maybe would be better if all families had CARING mums and dads but that's unfortunately not always the case.

Good news, shame it took this long for it to become possible though.

As far as i'm aware there's not any official legislation regarding smokers adopting, the only mention of it I can find is about it being "discussed beforehand" which doesn't mean smokers are necessarily barred. Either way, Smokers adopting would undoubtedly be much more harmful to the health/well being of the child compared to same sex couples adopting, but obviously your argument is based on opinion/emotion rather than fact/logic so there isn't much point in discussing it with you.
