Germany grants asylum for 'betrayed' interpreter after UK rejection

What the hell is wrong with this country? Here we have a case of somebody who has served with British forces, has earnt the right to be a subject by services to the British Crown and yet... we turn him down. At the same time, we're opening the borders to 29m Romanians and Bulgarians (criminals will be allowed to enter freely) and allowing them access to our generous wefare system.

It was the same disgrace with the Gurkhas. Why is it impossible for this country to have the sense knocked into it - or at least the political class - that we ought to set a number allowed to come in, and of those we should only allow those a) who we need b) do not have a criminal record & c) will contribute and are willing to integrate and become a part of this country.

It's really not that hard but as usual those of good character are kicked down and those of bad are held up.

I'm fascinated to look into why the courts and parliament do this :/ It's one of a few times the Human Rights Act can be properly used and yet it isn't.
