Has anyone here ever given blood? I really want to but 470ml which is the usual quantity taken just sounds like so much, as does the fact its almost 10% of the blood in your body.
What's it like giving blood too?

Never done it, but; http://www.blood.co.uk/about-blood/h...eplaces-blood/
It's alright, it does feel a little weird the first time you do it but you won't feel that bad afterwards usually (varies depending on person). It does seem like a lot but it is replaced quite quickly and by the next day you should actually feel perfectly normal again.

i don't weigh enough but my friends are just on the border (around 8st) and they do is as often as they can. they don't faint, i think the first time they felt like it though. my mum faints because of low blood pressure so she tries to do it in the afternoon and my brother is advised against it because he's anemic so make sure you don't have these problems.
don't think ill do it in future if i weigh enough as i have low blood pressure until i eat and ive heard ur not to drink or eat before it? dunno how true that is.
had my blood taken before for medical reasons, i really don't like needles but it wasn't too bad. jst think it'll be over in a few minutes and you're doing it for a good cause!

It's a lot of blood but think about how much blood will be going back into your boody whilst you're heart is still pumping. I know my dad and mum have done it several times. They say the needle is just like what you get at the doctors but, you're always advised to drink at least 2 pints of water before the transfusion.
I've never done it but I certainly would like to one day
