    Default British passport interviews.

    Hey,

    So I have an interview today for my first adult passport (due to not having one as a child). Does anyone know what I may be asked and what to expect and how long it takes to get my passport after the interview?

    I read somewhere that since it first made an interview mandatory only 5 had been failed. Do you think this is right?

    Anyways, Give me your general ideas and thoughts on the passport system!

    Don't worry about not getting one There are very, very few restrictions, which are all really about crime (arrest warrants, EU/UN restrictions on travel, previous serious crimes etc). Passports are technically government property (ironic you have to pay £75 for it, really..) - you will definitely get one though.

    I never had to do one
    You'll be fine though, nothing to worry about.

    You need an interview for a first ever passport if you're an adult but you don't if you're a child I believe @Absently;
    I had to have one for my first ever passport at 16 because it was my first passport and I was an adult.

    They asked me about where both my parents were born, how long I'd known my countersignature person, what job role they had, what relationship they had with me. They asked my schools, date of birth, full name, where I was born and they asked who the person who brought me (grandad) was and his full name and where he lives too and asked if I had been told to apply for a passport, if the person was paying me to apply for a passport, what and why I needed the passport for & if I'd been asked to get a passport against my will. I also had to give them verbal directions from my own house to my grandads house and then I had to give a digital signature. My passport arrived in the post a few days later so all was fine. It's just to check you are who you say you are.

    It's been in place for a while but if you've had a password during your child years then you don't normally have one. So it's not something you hear about unless it is your first time applying for a password in your adult years.

    I didn't have to have an interview because I'd have a passport at 14 but my brother had to do one and it was a pain going there and sorting it but they basically just ask you if you're a terrorist and then if you say no they'll send out a passport whenever they can be bothered

    No, you had one as a kid you just get an adult passport. No interview needed - I didn't need it anyway.
