Excitement - for what seasonal day?

So we know Christmas is the main event on the 25th December of course, but there's other days and I wondered what date/event people most looked forward to and for whatever reason. For me although I enjoy Christmas Eve (going pub with friends) and Christmas Day itself with family, the date I am really really looking forward to is the 21st December which is the Winter Solstice when the days start getting longer again - because I cannot stand the winter and can't wait for more hours of sunlight. I'm instantly uplifted by the very thought that the horrid winter weather has passed the halfway line.

Why no 31st December? . I'm going to say 26th out of all of those as that will basically be Christmas since that's when my brother and other family come up.
