    Default best laptop under £500?

hey everyone, so i'm allowed to have a new laptop for christmas and the budget is £500 (we'd prefer to spend as little as possible though)
i'd like a laptop that will last me for a while, is great quality, looks nice etc etc
i've always wanted a macbook but they're too expensive

please can i have your suggestions for which laptop under £500 is the best and worth the money

i wouldn't say i 'game' much at the moment, i am just mainly on the forum, on habbo, youtube, tumblr etc, although i do go through phases where i am on games alot of the time
i play sims 4, league of legends, runescape, minecraft, gary's mod (and other steam games) sometimes though
i often use photoshop and things and i will be using it for college work as usual

I'd recommend anything HP to be honest - PCWorld have some pretty good deals on them at the moment too. I had a similar one to this for 3 years and, despite me dropping it about 100 times, it lasted really well!

But really, most of the things on this list under £500 I'd be happy to recommend for what you want from it.

Tesco actually does decent deals on laptops, especially if you're not after a specific gaming laptop (which are stupid anyway) or whatever. This is the one I have and never had any problems with it, good specs for the price and doesn't pretend to be anything it's not like a Mac

As Laura has said above I would definitely recommend HP's laptops, got mine from PC World and got a discount from MyUniDays, just download the app onto your phone and find it and they will give you a discount with your code.

I have this one but in white and silver: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptop...pdt.html#cat-0

my laptops HP and I got it for christmas in 2012 and it's doing alright even now
Sometimes the screen messes up, and f5 and my two button has stopped working but thats from me being clumsy
It's a good laptop, decent at gaming. It's good with sims and gmod just a hefty minecraft server lags but erm I think thats my wifi ANYWAY it was also available in red purple and blue and I got it in red cos I thought that was the prettiest, and it's got enough storage space like I save so much on here and I've still got space on here

I think this is the exact one as mine HERE

hp compaq toshiba all cheap laptops. got one for uni and gaming for £200 from pc world with student discount but sadly the promo is over. and yes it runs LoL and other games fine. mainly used for browsing and word processing, can't really go wrong. relatively okay sized screen too, none of this 4 inch notebook rubbish.
