Graphics Card Upgrade and BIOS?

I've been looking into upgrading my graphics card to meet the recommended requirements for GTA V (currently only meeting the minimum). However when searching for whether it's possible for my PC to accomodate a double wide card (as it only has a single atm), I encountered a post suggesting that my PC isn't capable of upgrading to the graphics card I want as it requires BIOS version 8. After checking my PC seems to be operating version 7.

Anyone know if this is correct, as I remember reading about graphic BIOS and I'm not entirely certain if they're the same? Also I'm fairly new to the idea of upgrading so I literally have no idea. I haven't found anything else inferring updating the BIOS, but I want to be certain before I waste a load of money for something I might not be able to use +Rep.

Hey would help to post your specs. What do you mean by double wide card? :s About your BIOS you shouldn't need to be messing about with that.

What information would you need to know? Like I said I've never done this before, so I don't know really what's relevant and what's not.

My current graphics card has a dimension of about half the card I want (See link): http://img.ebyrcdn.net/666562-707426-800.jpg. I really don't have the adequate terminology to appropriately name it. I already found the answer to this specifically however as the frame supporting my current card can be removed should a larger card be needed.

Oh i get you yea thats fine you just take off one of the pcie brackets. Upragding GPU's are no hassle my only concern is that your mobo might not support pcie gen 3.0 x16 you can still use it but it just wont run at its maximum potential. Try find out if you mobo supports pcie gen 3.0 x16

My test bench runs msi 970 on a old motherboard that i know runs on a old version of bios, it should work.
I would also suggest you to buy a 960 instead of a 670

Oh i get you yea thats fine you just take off one of the pcie brackets. Upragding GPU's are no hassle my only concern is that your mobo might not support pcie gen 3.0 x16 you can still use it but it just wont run at its maximum potential. Try find out if you mobo supports pcie gen 3.0 x16

I literally couldn't care less what card it is as long as it can play GTA V !

a 670 and a 960 is pretty much the same model, but the 960 is the newest version of the gpu's, they are allmost just as cheap, and can handle a bit more, i've owned two 670's and both cards have been fried.

He's probs getting because he's on a budget and maybe he needs a 4gb vram. But for gta V 2gb vram should be enough for v/high.

Actually I was going for that one because it was the first card recommended on the NVIDIA website when I had my card checked for the system requirements

This is my motherboard. I assume that it isn't 3.0 as it isn't listed as such?
