X-Files revival Mini Series

Just found out that the X Files will be returning in January with a mini series, having last seen Mulder and Scully in the not so well received second film I want to believe

The Lone Gunmen are also returning after their apparent death earlier in the series. However apparently a comic book series following from the TV series reveleaed they faked their death so that they could work in secrecy. Their not the only people coming back from the dead - the cigarette smoking man and krycek among others are returning

I've never watched X-Files but I know it inspired the show Fringe what I LOVE.

Hoping that you can watch the mini series without seeing any of the others

I wouldn't be surprised if they did something like the new series of doctor who - having lots of things from classic but in a way new fans can enjoy it without much prior knowledge.

However I recommend watching the original, one of my favourite series. It's kind of like doctor who really in a sense - monster of the week stories, exploring the paranormal, people with unusual powers etc. but with a long series conspiracy arc. It got a bit lost later on but some amazing and scary episodes
