Default To those becoming less active -

    Why?

Obviously, life is happening and Habbo(x) isn't a priority for most of us. However, it does seem to me that more and more people are becoming less active. I'm talking about people who have been here for 7+ years all seem to be becoming less active.

I wanted to give some insight into this from my own experience (and from what I've heard from others) and hope other people could do the same as hopefully it could be one step to rectifying activity levels, other than looking for new members.

    1) Too much personal grudges and vendettas. The whole forum is full of snide comments and this personally is the reason I became less active. Seeing people making sly comments about me and being repped for it doesn't make you feel the greatest. Especially if it comes from management:

    2) Too unprofessional. I'm sorry, I know, IT'S A HABBO FORUM!!! and I was the first person to scream that when people would cry over staff having their own opinions. However, this management comes across too much like they don't care about the site or their members and seeing them getting repped for their rudeness is really off putting, even as an older member who once encouraged it. I know you all are entitled to say what you want and defend yourselves (which most staff do so calmly) but the upper management seem incapable of doing it in a polite way and don't care about the consequences. Why are you even staff? What makes you stay here? Cause it sure aint for the people. I remember going to ClubHabbo and how much of a douche the owner and the management was and I was SO GLAD Habbox seemed to have some standard when it came to management but now it's going down the drain.

    3) Nothing attracts me. Granted, it's a habbo fansite and I don't play habbo, I will be limited in what I will want to play but even then, when there is forum events I rarely want to play? They seem pretty interesting and unique (eg the pokemon event) but the advertising is really weak. I know that this is likely just me personally since others do play but I just wanted to give an insight into why I myself, and maybe others, are using the forum less. Things I do like for example, was when Inseriousity. did the valentines event where he matched people up with one another because it actually felt like us as members and people were being taken into account. It's something that gets everyone involved regardless of whether they played habbo or not. Hopefully HxSS can bring people back together and hopefully it won't just fall flat.

Now, I don't know how to overcome the first option. Remove the rep counter so people can't go on an ego-trip and create a negative environment for other members? Management not having to HAVE their say at the end of every argument but just dealing with the arguments and closing the threads? Management not staying in a role they clearly have no 'passion' for?

I barely see @Bolt660;, @lawrawrrr; @The Don; @Yuxin; @ms aquamarine; @GoldenMerc; @CrazyLemurs; @Aiden; around anymore - these are people I used to see daily and now I rarely do? So, I'm wondering if anyone can give me an insight into what makes them less active? Or what turns them off the forum?

I post and go on Habbo every day how can you not see me?! I guess I'm not spamming the forum as much as I used to because I'm usually busy doing AGMy stuff but I make sure to post at least once a day!!

PS: I have been on holiday for the last 5 days which is why I've been less active haha

    ok first i need to call a friend for backup @Dave;

if we abolished rep system and introduced a like system, the likes would be public therefore potentially eliminating any sly '+rep' that people would once give to a post targetting another member. people would be less inclined to rep/like the post if they knew their name would be visible to others

activity wise i'm not being vain but i generated a lot of activity in spam with threads, and once i've stopped there has been nobody who really replaced me. i'm not saying it was just me but a lot of the main creators have left or stopped making threads which means we have less content to work with, even if it's just joking around and interacting with one another

i could start making threads again but it would be nice if others tried too, it doesn't even have to be anything super creative

also me and @The Don; were chatting and we think a town of salem game is well overdue

Oh god yes my one complaint (aside from the forest room) about that Pokemon event is there was no prior advertising, it literally just opened one day which was very poor whoever decided to do that (good event generally speaking though even if it could have used some tweaks ).

lmaooooooooooo you got stalked for like a year after that competition didn't you
    jen and ben. OTP.

tbh I think it's number 3 that stops a lot of people. The older members aren't really at Habbox for the Habbo part, we're here for the friends and community (however much they dwindle over the years). It therefore means that everything isn't really designed for you now. It's for the people that do still use Habbo and if I'm being honest that's how it should be really. We tend to advertise these things on Habbo so you miss the advertising cos we're not advertising at you. In marketing terms, you're not the "target audience." It doesn't help that my events tended to require a lot of effort if you wanted to win (although you could've just played less actively just for fun), sorry about that

For me personally, it's number 2 and 3. I don't think it needs to be too professional but there's a whole clique that can get away with murder because they have the power (or they're friends with people who are) and it's just really depressing. Without naming names but I think you can see which members are friends because they'll post something and it's like whoa how did you get away with that?

edit: okay tom posted while I was writing so will just reply. Events don't have prior advertising. Some do if they need registration but most events just start and you can choose to get involved or not.

Real life is my reason for being less active than usual, but come September I guess I'll be even less active.

    i'd like your post but..
unless people are particularly bold and don't care then like system would stop the +reps in that scenario, a dislike button would also work. not sure it would stop the comments though.

when reading jen's post i thought of everything you said.
