Only in Birstall omg, this is way too close to home yknow when stuff like this happens just round the corner it really makes it real.
Andrew used to live there so I used to walk round Birstall quite often, and I must say it is a horrid place you never felt comfortable. But even so just because it's not a nice area doesn't mean that you should walk in fear for your life like this. Never makes anything like this 'understandable'.

Terrible news. I can't understand why someone would do this. There's a channel 4 video going around on facebook which seems to possibly link this to her anti-racism and pro-immigration views. There are also claims that the man was shouting "Britain First" when he did it, although i'm not sure how trustworthy the comments are... Glad that they've most likely caught the sick individual who did this. RIP

The Britain First rumour seems to have come from a Labour MP and the Telegraph has now removed all references of such a claim.

Again we don't yet know the details but there seems to be strong suggestions now that this guy was mentally ill and has a history of being wacko. What I am puzzled about is the reports of a pre-altercation with another man, which *suggests* she wasn't actually the intended target she just got involved. Who knows.

The Guardian mentions the Britain First comment on their website. Could be a rumour, we'll have to wait for the facts to come out. The pre-altercation reports are interesting, wonder what it was about. Apparently the first mp murdered since Spencer Perceval in 1812 (which isn't Ireland related).

Won't be the first MP murdered since then, we had a few by the IRA. Most famously(?) Airey Neave MP right outside the Palace in 1979.

Yes I got a bit confused by the reports cos on one hand it suggested she was the target then on the other that she was just in the middle of a different argument altogether.

Either way, RIP to her, such a tragedy.
