All 31 of my teeth are in a "pretty good" state right now, as in I haven't needed any work doing for a long time compared to when I was younger when I basically had something every visit I do have a crown on one tooth and a fair few fillings (6 on 5 teeth, not including the 1 under my crown which is honestly more metal than tooth at this point).

Went to the dentist probably just over a year ago now and I am going back on the 26th August.

used to hate the dentist but after months of toothache i went finally went after 3 years and needed 2 fillings and a tooth removing (say tooth hardly any of it left) before i would never let them even try do the fillings but after the needle i kinda of enjoyed the first one which was only a little one at the top. week after went back for another one and this one was worst he numb it but could still feel it so numb it again. then after it was really painful even ended up getting painkillers off my teacher. think its nicer if you have a nice dentist this one was really calm and friendly where my old one (called miss pain no joke) used to just shout at me.

I'm sure you always make threads that I can write essays for Gina!

I actually went to the dentist last Wednesday, and I'm pretty sure everything is fine - I had x rays, but I don't think she gets the results back straight away, but I haven't had a phone call so I think everything is ok. I always go to the dentist every 6 months, rip bank balance, and over the years my dentist visits and treatment has been interesting.

When I was younger, I didn't mind the dentist at all, the needles didn't bother me and I used to get a sticker every time! Then when I got older, I started being afraid more, I used to cry and near enough refuse to have any work done (on one occasion I did refuse and actually had to go under anaesthetic at the hospital instead lmao). However, now I'm fine and the needles hurt, but I just get over it, although whenever I need work done and she numbs my mouth I can actually feel it, but there's no way I'm having more needles done so I just deal with the pain.

My teeth in the past have been so bad, I didn't used to always brush them, but I don't think that's what made them bad, it's sort of hereditary that my gums and teeth were bad and probably stuff I used to eat in the past! Although now I brush them I notice a difference, but they actually hurt more from brushing, but again I just go through the pain.

I have a lot of fillings, but some of them are just where they had to do a bit of work or took the nerve out of my tooth as that was giving me pain more. I am missing around 9 teeth maybe, but there are reasons for that which I'll explain too!

Firstly, I have 4 missing teeth that I had to have an operation to remove, including a cyst in my gum. I had to have them removed so I could receive braces, this was my orthodontist's request so I had it done at the hospital and I was put to sleep for it. I had to have a week off school due to it and had to have stitches - I hated that orthodontist and rightly so, since after my operation I had to go to another orthodontist and be told that I didn't need braces! So I pretty much had 4 perfectly healthy teeth pulled - 2 of them were side by side so for around 8 years I've actually had a massive gap in my teeth; luckily they're at the bottom at the side so you can't see it as much. The operation was fine however, I was asleep for it and the needle went in fine; the only problem I had was when they took the cannula out and put a plaster on and then I decided to drip blood everywhere lmao. It was such a long day though, I was there at 6-7am until 5pm and I had to eat before I went home! They were also going to put me on an adult ward when I was about 13, and sent me for an induction at the wrong hospital, I also had to miss playing rounders for my school due to the operation too.

One of my other teeth fell out when I was young - I was literally around 6 when it fell out and I actually found out that was my adult tooth, so I haven't had that tooth for 14 years, but it was good in a way because there's no gap for it, so it might have helped straighten my teeth when I got my other adult ones.

Right, onto the other 3 that I know are missing - these are 3 of my front teeth and I had to have countless fillings for them, I had to have the nerves removed for them and still that didn't work in helping! I was meant to get a brace, but couldn't due to how heavily they were filled too - so I ended up having crowns for them instead. Originally, I had 1 crown and the other two teeth were my normal ones, unfortunately though, my crown kept falling out (literally fell out the night before my induction at college so I had to go with a front tooth missing). After it repeatedly kept falling out I got it on a palette (denture) which I find a lot better than a crown as I can eat whatever I want really (apart from apples which I need to cut up first). After that was on a palette I got crowns for the other two teeth, but again they started falling out and I had to add them onto my palette - so I have 3 teeth on a palette, false teeth etc. (not only old people have them) I take after my mum as she has some too so it might run in the family lmao. I've had those on a palette for 3-5 years now and I honestly prefer them to crowns and they're a lot easier to maintain.

After I had the two teeth added onto my palette, I had to have work done to remove the hole things where my crowns screwed in. This is where I refused to have it done due to having a needle in my mouth and I knew I probably wouldn't have dealt with the pain. So I opted to be sedated at the hospital. The day of the operation came and I go into hospital, and to be sedated you need a needle in your arm so they can put it in (also, sedation is basically not being asleep for the operation, but I wouldn't be aware of what was happening). Now this is one of the most traumatic experiences of my life! Firstly, I asked for numbing gel on my arm, to which they replied that they have none... ok I'll just deal with that. So they try the first needle - I scream (my mum is in the waiting room and can hear this so she is already in tears), they can't find a vein... they try again, I scream again... they can't find a vein. Fast forward this to around the 6-7th attempt and they still can't find a vein. The doctor/dentist whatever he was said "Can we just numb your mouth and do it." at this point I was annoyed as I had been told I had good veins so it wouldn't be a problem, I told them that if I wanted it to be just numbed in my mouth I would have had it done at the dentist. So they tried one more time and it actually worked! The sedation wore off (I literally have no recollection of that operation due to the sedation), but my holes where the screws go were removed and in time my gums shrunk back down and the holes disappeared. However, I noticed something after the operation, and it was a big thing to miss - they had somehow got a piece of tooth stuck in my gum, I'm not sure how they did it as they were literally not removing any teeth, but it was wedged in there! That operation was like 5 years ago, and literally about a month ago I was wiggling the tooth stuck in my gum with my tongue and it came out , I couldn't believe it as I'd been trying so long for that!

Also, another thing with my mouth - I have a piece of loose gum and it's been there a while, but my palette covers it up and it's fine. One night it was literally coming off, so I pulled it slightly... big mistake (I suggest no one ever do this), I've never felt blood rush so fast (I'm assuming it was a good thing to pull it off, as it felt like the blood had built up above my gum, so who knows I might have had a blood clot if I didn't do it). Anyway, it stopped bleeding after a couple of minutes and it's still loose, but it's fine now!

Oh I also have wisdom teeth, the bottom ones have pretty much broken through, but the top ones have just been gum for years now! I did used to get pain from them, and I got told if I developed an infection, or continuous infections I would need them removed. However, they've stopped hurting now and only hurt when they're pushing through a bit more.

All being well though, I haven't had to have any work done at the dentist in around 2 years so fingers crossed next time I go they will change my check ups to a longer gap! I hope you all enjoy reading lmao.

    Calm down samanfa :/

My teeth aren't the best but they're alright. Got a reminder today that my next orthodontist visit is due next month so I've made an appointment for the middle of august.
