I either read or play on my 3DS. The time flys when I do that!

If you can handle looking at a screen without getting motion sickness then I agree with Jurv.

Take a notebook with you, there are lots of random games you could play whilst you're in the car. Even if your mum is driving she could play along somewhat too.

For example, you could look at number plates and find one that starts with every letter of the alphabet, make the rule that you can't move onto the next one until you find one etc.

Choose a type of vehicle (bus, tanker, car carrier etc.) or a colour of a car each and count how many you find and mark them down. The winner is the one with the most.

You could even just play eye spy to kill some of the time. In September I went from Yorkshire to Edinburgh and it took a few hours; as I'd never been out of England I didn't want to sleep and miss anything, but there were more people in the car then. Generally we had the radio on and different music, I took my 3DS and bought a magazine to read and do the puzzles.

Aside from that I was just looking at all the scenery and my surroundings because it was the furthest I'd ever been away from home without my family, apart from when I went to London.
