    Default US Electoral College Vote

A lot of people don't know this.

When the US votes in a Presidential Election they're not technically choosing the President there and then, they're delegating the electoral votes in the college who then go on to decide the President. Constitutionally and legally, college electors are entitled to change their votes although this rarely happens: most go to vote for the candidate their state voted for. To do otherwise would likely cause a huge constitutional crisis.

After the result, Mr Trump promised to "work hard to unite our country and be the president of all Americans".

Electors had been flooded with emails and phone calls urging them not to support the billionaire.

But despite longshot liberal hopes of a revolt by Republican electors, only two - from Texas - ended up voting against him.

A few electoral college voters also switched from Hillary Clinton and voted for others.

So that's it now, formal: Donald J. Trump will be 45th President of the United States.

I don't like Trump much but all that pissing and moaning from people who didn't get their way was ridiculous. Those in the college who changed their allegiance (in whichever direction) should realistically be made political pariahs since it's an option that should only really be exercised in genuine extremes rather than because some kids online wrote a petition
