Brexit road map: Basically UK will pretend to be Norway for 2 years (probably longer) - inside single market, customs union, accepting freedom of movement, no say on new rules - and then post-transition pretend to be Canada (outside SM, CU, no FOM, favourable trading terms).

Fundamentals in all of this.....Northern Ireland will not be separated in any way from the rest of the UK after Brexit. Unfettered access to the UK market. No borders in the Irish Sea. Positive day for the Union. Now to the next stage and getting the best UK/EU trade deal.

I'm quite pleased.

My only annoyance is that it'll take time (see second tweet) to get to the end goal *but* given I am getting everything I wanted at that end, I can wait a couple of years for it. Much better than being stuck in the EEA/EFTA with a 'soft' Brexit for all time. We're basically going to be like Canada - a third party country that is completely economically/politically/legally independent, but with strong mutual recognition standards with the EU to faciliate easy trade. That's good.

When it is all done and dusted, we'll wonder a) what all the fuss was about over leaving & b) why we ever joined in the first place.

Progress on Brexit looks like it’s given May a boost over Corbyn:
37% now think she’d be the best PM (up 3), ahead of Corbyn on 28%(down 2) and don’t know 35%(-1).
That’s a 9 pt lead, and it was a 4pt lead last week
