    They do have similar meanings aye, but when they were first used they were used in different meanings as explained in the first post...

    But they aren't really real words, so ofcourse everyone is bound to have different opinions on what they are...

    This is pointless anyway, hardly anyone uses newbie or newb anymore.

    Everyone was a Newbie once, but n00b is actually different, which is why n00b is offensive and Newbie is just someone doing something new, that's why this forum even has a rank called Newbie. Newb is just Newbie abreviated.

    N00b, however, is an insult.

    That's the difference and plenty of definitions on the net will tell you...

    Serioly n00b is an abbrivition of newbie. its more form the old l33t stuff, newb newbie and noob are the same word. noobs prencounced n(sound) oooo (ooo sound) b (beee sound)
