Well indie wouldnt be steriotyping. Indie is like 'Other', so it could be anything you want. So that wouldnt be steriotyping yourself.

I hate people who say they are punk, or who call themselves goth, or are proud that they are emo. You are a loser if you call yourself a steriotype.

Saying that you're indie is stereotyping yourself.
It's a catagory of music, clothing and style, just like goth, chav and punk.
So, yes, she is stereotyping herself.
