Need help - Badly Please

In English, we have to write a speech, the thing is, is ive done everything, and ive figured out my introduction, is carp. I hate it. This is what it is at the moment;

Smoking is a big issue in the UK, with just over a quarter of the popualtion smoking. Do you like it when you walk into a place, and you get hit with a cloud of smoke, and you start to cough, and you smell like that untill your clothes get washed? There are many chemicals in a cigerette.. Lets just say 4000 odd. Britain needs to cut down, slow down with the amount of cigerettes, Britain smoke a day.

Can anyone help me make it a near perfect introduction?

Smoking is a massive issue in the UK, and it has been for many years. Over a quarter of the British population smoke and it is seriously affecting our lives. The main problem with smoking is it's serious health risk; people who smoke have a much higher chance of developing chronic diseases such as bronchitis or lung cancer, which can often be fatal. The goveremnt have been trying to crack down on smoking, but how can we help?
