Help with Shades

Im trying to figure out how to rebuild the wall on the temples (Shadoes of Morton quest) and I cant figure it out for two reasons:

1. I can be very stupid at times....
2. The Shades keep attacking me, I'm low on health, and Ive got no food, so I have no time to figure out what to do.

Sooo.... if you'd dont mind telling me what to do, Id be grateful. And if your REALLY bored, why not come along and give me backup (e.g. keeping the shades at bay, back up food).

Ok then, but what do I do to repair? Ive tried using limestone with the altar, tried using swamp paste with the limestone...
