    The total banning of guns in America would be far too difficult, more restrictions would make more sense.

    I think it's pretty much a given that there are more criminals now than there were at that time, however, because there was very little law enforcement and the first police department in the United States wouldn't exist for about 60 more years. Because there was no law enforcement, people had to defend themselves and had to carry handguns in case they were needed.

    America decide to have that many guns
    America are aware of a "problem" if there is that much of one.
    They are allowed to do it, so why not? They should be allowed to arm themselves. Nothing against it, so its up to them how they keep there guns. What are the rest of the world going to do about it? America is the most powerful country in the world, and thats not gonna change for a while I doubt. Im all up for saying "No more guns" but jeez. There laws, there decisions. Free will is an amazing thing, no?

    Im talking about break-ins, assult etc; not carrying guns around (which by the way is only legal in very few states). Police dont just happen to be there. There has to be another means of self defence.
