Don't start something please... then members would become more sad and desperate just like the whole "rep" ordeal.
But it seems people toned down a bit after an admin said "Ask for rep, get banned".

hmmm i feel it would be a good idea, i know as you say its not like we are desperate for members, but a reward scheme of some sort would undoubtably increase the member base.

Not really, the majority of the members hate referral competitons. They usually flame people who put a referral link.

It would just mean that most people will start creating clones and referring themselves.
