You can brick your PSP doing this. Also, I didn't think it was illegal, so why not talk about it? We talk about smoking pot and underage things.

What do you mean by downgrading and whats the point?

It's a completely different matter. Speaking about drugs and things isn't hurting anyone, but giving advice that might hurt a company financially (being able to play ROMs and other illegal content on PSP again) isn't really allowed to talk about.

Ive downgraded mine, 100% love it
I got a 2GB stick and a 1GB stick, i have so many games downloaded on to it and movies
If you have you're own PSP downgraded it recomend you downloading Loco Roco , Amazing game, cute songs
