Removing Scratches?

What is the BEST way to move scratches? Something that you have tried that actually worked?

A few of my ps2 cds are scratched and I would like to fix them. Any advice? What can I buy that will work or are there home remedies? (I've heard that toothpaste works).

I've heard that sometimes it can ruin the CD. Have you tried this and has it worked?
