100 million computers in virus warning!

Security chiefs last night warned 100 million cumputer users to guard against a massive virus attack by hackers. The US department of Homeland Security urged Microsoft Windows users to install anti-virus software to prevent a worldwide spread of the bug. It was discovered in a regular security email update to users from the company.
A glitch in the software means hackers could remotley take control of a computer without the owner knowing. They could then delete programmes and create secret accounts of their own.
The bug is found in Windows 2000, XP and Windows Server2003.
A homeland security spokesman said: "This could impact on government systems, private industry and critical infrastructure as well as individual home users."
Windows runs most of the world's computers and has been a constant target of attacks by worms, trojans, viruses and other malicious software. Microsoft routinely releases security updates and antidotes known as "Patches."
