I highly recommend not having a seperate user system and forum (I.E. VB) as it gets annoying having to register on the user system AND the forum and having 2 profiles etc.
Make a custom forum.

Or make it so you can intergrate (Cant spell <---) the user system with the site

Wouldnt be too hard. Just make the usersystem store and get the info from the same place as Vb from your MySQL tables.
