I always add a 5 defence on my pk/pures it doesn't make a difference.But it will give me a advantage.

personnaly i dont think it ruined it... but well since youve gone part the way maybe get 20 and get full mystic? gaves great defence against magic obvoiusly but meh i dont no much about pures
