Dimebag was pretty amazing.
Zakk Wylde's work for Black Label Society is incredible.

a would be Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix
I can't believe only 1 person has mentioned Hendrix?!
Hendrix all the way.
Jimmy Page
Well, most people only think of the Smells Like Teen Spirit solo when they talk about Cobain's music. I think Breed, Lounge Act and You Know You're Right are amazing songs, but no part of Cobains guitar stands out to me, it's usually Grohl on drums that does.
I like Dave Grohl as a guitarist, mainly because he swapped from drumming to lead guitar and sounds at home on both instruments. He also has one of those great personalities; interviews with him generally are great to watch.
Matt Bellamy of Muse and Ray Toro of MyChemicalRomance also deserve mentions. Matt's guitar work is absolutely amazing in songs like Hysteria, New Born and Stockholm Syndrome. Ray is one of the only members of MCR that stands out to me; if you listen to their first album where it is only him on Guitar then it has a much better, harder sound.
I was going to say him, he does some pretty amazing stuff, when he's live he switches between the Keyboard and Guitar very quickly without messing up (On songs like Starlight where the parts are right next to each other).Matt Bellamy of Muse and Ray Toro of MyChemicalRomance also deserve mentions.
