I agree, looks like a freewebs template.

I'm forced to disagree.Give the guy a break. It was a habbo based competition that does attract kids in the range of 12-16 year olds. If i do say so myself i think that is pretty good considering such a young age orientated community.
Those who say they could do better most probably couldn't. We all start somewhere don't we, and as time progresses you learn new skills and techniques. I say well done to the guy at least he didn't rip his layout. An honest competition entry i must say.
I know many people aged 12-16 who can produce a masterpiece via the work of web design.
If you look at most of the fansites on the .de hotel and .ch then you shall see what skills are widely available on the world of Habbo.
Comparing to other countries is a tricky debate. Depends on the background the person has.
Put it straight. It's not horrible is it? I was going to say there are few that could do better of course. You will always get the talent somewhere anywhere. But it remains to be seen whether they applied or not.
But some who are saying freewebs is better are just over exaggerating. It's not about freewebs or all that. It's the concept of it. Can you really imagine a company using a freewebs template? It's not bad but i can imagine the competition wasn't as popular to attact that talent you're talking about. It obviously came out best on all the other entries. Although you are right in some aspect.

This isn't being big headed, myself and several other people that I know could create a better template on freewebs in 10 minutes.Comparing to other countries is a tricky debate. Depends on the background the person has.

The coding is terrible and as for the presentation, well, let's just leave it.
Let's not compare to other countries then - I still know many that can put together a good website layout.
Agreed. I don't think it was a question of whether you can or cannot do better. Probably the competition wasn't advertised thoroughly enough. This isn't being big headed, myself and several other people that I know could create a better template on freewebs in 10 minutes.

I admit, that there wasn't enough promotion of this competition as I have seen some of the entries that weren't even sent off and they were of excellent, high quality and quite frankly - deserved to win.
In a competition - it's a question of whether you can do better than the other competitors in the competition, so I guess it is.
All in all - Rare Communications have ended up looking more unprofessional than before imo.

I did doubt at one point whether rare communications was even a business/company. It's a big risk for a coroporation to even consider letting 12-16 year olds to design their website. Customers of any sort have to see presentation and surely a proffessional would be better off doing the job.
