I don't see how GC are much different to some other bands in the pop-punk/rock-pop genre.

depends on pop-punk, there's kind of two definitions, bands like screeching weasel, descendents, latterman, ramones and yo man, go! are all punk bands just with more melody, ie pop-punk.

but then people say things like good charlotte and simple plan are pop-punk which is more like taking punk elements and packaging them nicely for a popular market.

pop-rock fits pretty nicely.

I wouldn't call Billy Talent full on punk, possibly post-hardcore punk stuff.

pop-punk is quality. i love latterman, the ramones, osker, screeching weasel, yo man, go! and descendents. so good!
