As long as you are in a stable and loving relationship that is definately serious and has a future. Engagement doesnt always mean youre going to get married instantly. Some people see it more as a statement of commitment for the future. One up on dating, but not quite as pernament as marriage.
Personally I wouldnt get married till I was a fair bit older (20s or so) that might change, but thats how it is for me for now.
