- Joey Mercury, one half of the on and off MNM tag team, has been fired by
WWE yesterday. No official reason has been given as to why the 27 year old
was given the pink slip. Mercury signed with WWE in early of 2004 and was
assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling as part of his developmental deal.
Eventually, he along with his partner Johnny Nitro and Diva Melina were
teamed up to form MNM. In May of 2006, Mercury was suspended by WWE for
failing the Wellness Program test and was kept off television for six months
and then returned in November. Mercury suffered a horrible face injury at
the Armageddon PPV after he was hit by a ladder during the Ladder match
which earned him around a total of 20 stitches to his face. During his time
in WWE he won the tag team titles three times with Nitro as part of MNM.
