For the first question you add all the ratios together.

    So 4+6+7= 17

Then you know out of the 17, 6 parts is 9cm.

So divide 6 by 9 that gives you the height of one part.

    Then times it acordinly.

    So
    answer X 4 = Smallest
    answer X 7 = Biggest

    Hope that made sense

    As karl said.

Also, www.emaths.co.uk for maths papers and answers. So if you're stuck, you can look at the answer and it's easier to see how they got that answer.

Ok heres the correct way, you need to find a number that will divide into 9, six times. That number is 1.5

    1.5 x 6 = 9.
    So
    1.5 x 4 = 6.

    1.5 x 7 = 10.5.

    Answers: 6 9 10.5

    Thats wrong, because 6/9 = 0.66666666666666666666666666666667

    So your saying 0.66666666666666666666666666666667 x 7 = 4.6666666666666666666666666666667

That isn't bigger than 9cm is it? So thats wrong.

    To do the second question

Instead of multiplying, you just do the opposite on this one, which is divide.

    So 9/7 = 1.2857142857142857142857142857143

1 decimal place is the 2. So

    1.2857142857142857142857142857143

Look at the second number, which is 8 so its higher than 5, so you round it up to 1.3.

    So 1.3 x 6 = 7.8

    1.3 x 4 = 5.2

    Answers

    5.2 7.8 9.

I think thats how you do it for the 1 decimal place. You might need to check with a maths teacher for that part.
