Default Apartment building almost burned down.

So I came home from school and was walking in as another girl who lives in the building asked me "what's that noise?" I told her "I have no idea". So, thinking it wasn't a big deal since the fire alarms go off when steam from hot showers get to the fire alarms I just went upstairs. I get into my hallway and it's filled with smoke, so I freaked out and ran into my apartment and grabbed my cat and had my friend get another cat. We went outside and got all scared not knowing what was going on but eventually the fire trucks showed up. Apparently some drunk person that lives down the hall from me left something burning on the stove. It was quite an experience. It was kinda neat seeing all the people who live in my apartments together. But everything's fine now, so I'm glad.

Sorry for rambling if that's a bit long.

Has anyone else had any experiences like this?

My nan lives in a flat, and the fire alarm went off when I was there with her but it was a person who went to sleep smoking, naughty naughty..

Not much damage, but it was scary!

Wow, that sounds bad. I've never had to experience that, the only thing a tiny bit close was the police breaking into the neighbours house because they were running some black market, they had search dogs and everything. Was rather scary to see.

My old school had a little problem. Some idiot left the bunsen burner on in the lab, caught fire, and one block was burnt quite badly.

Not really had an experience like that, but a few years ago the tumble dryer exploded causing lots of smoke and a fire. How much damage was there in the flat?
